I have a Pro 320 (serial #AC48 880200535), it is about 3 years old. It has worked fine up until recently. My wife told me that when she prints to our laser printer, it make the computer shutdown and re-start. I think when printing, it put extra power draw on the pro 320 and made the computer loose power. I have the computer, monitor, and DSL unit plugged into the backup so I dont think I have it overloaded. I took the backup out and plugged all protected components into the wall and the shutdown problem went away. I have always noticed a click noise when I print and never really gave it much thought. With the backup out of the loop I do not get the click noise at the beginning of a print job. Then I noticed the power unit is making a constant low hissing noise out of the speaker. It has never indicated that the battery needs replacement, but if I pull the plug it will not switch to battery mode so the battery seems completely dead. So I opened the unit and the hissing noise is comming from the round black speaker on the motherboard. Do I just need a battery or do I have bigger problems? I do not want to replace the battery if it will not fix my problem.

Seanh,
Good Afternoon,
Welcome back from your Turkey day.
Let's discuss what could be happening.
If the Laser Printer is on the same circuit then the printer might be causing the AC circuit drop down enough to have the UPS go to battery mode.
The next question is to you..
Have ever changed the batttery?

(Scenario)
The laser printer is causing the the AC circuit low and the Pro320 is going to battery. If the battery is exhausted it's life then the UPS will drop the load attached.

What is the serial#?

Pro320
37000007
$29.00

Jeff
