I have a Minuteman MBK550E UPS and the battery needs to be replaced. I was reading the manual for MBK-E series and it indicates two batteries. It only had one battery in it and the place for the second battery was just a hollow plastic box in the shape of a battery.
I have two new replacement batteries for it and made a jumper to connect them together as indicated in the manual, but when I hook it up with the two batteries the fan spins really fast and then the red Internal Fault LED lights up. If I disconnect the jumper and only connect the main cables to a single battery, individually it seems to work fine with either battery even after performing a self test. If I understand correctly, the manual indicates to wire the batteries in series which will make it 24V instead of 12V. Is it supposed to understand this automatically or is there some way to adjust it so it knows to accept 24V instead of 12V? Or is this specific model designed to only accept 12V? If so, can I wire the two batteries in parallel instead? |

MBK550E B00007 12 Volt 7.2 Amp Hour 1 Each
Above is on our website. You would have to put them in parallel. It is a 12VDC system. I would not do. I guy did it in Houston and burned a bunch of units up. |
