I installed the SentryPlus software on a Windows 2003 server and connected to the e2300 UPS with an rs232 cable. The software is working fine, it sees the UPS and gets the information about battery and line voltage etc. The problem is that when I shutdown the server, the UPS turns off. I have tried a 9 pin straight thru cable and a 3 pin (2,3,5) straight cable and both do the same thing. I don't seem to have any Minuteman cables.

You need to use out cable. The part number is 35000003. Pin 1 is instant off. You can use straight through cable if you pull pin 1.
