I need to have remote monitoring of the UPS.
I have 4 UPSs that to add SMNP/WEB control.
I need the part number of this option card.
Does it have WEB interface like APCs WEB card? (APCs Web card will e-mail you if it has a failure) |

Robertk,
Pro2200r has a external box and CIC (SNMP based) can that you can purchase. The CIC can be set up this way and requires the following to do so:
SNMP-S08 External CIC for Pro2200r
Part #90000216
The Price is $481.00 retail price.
You need an External Modem
1.You will set up the pager in the Event Action screen. The user chooses an event from the Event List. Then the user chooses one of the four ways to configure the event.
A.Pager
B.Broadcast
C.Logging
D.Trap
You will click on pager.
2.This is the Pager Configuration screen. Connect an external modem to the RS232 port of the CIC. When the chosen Event happens, the CIC will page the number. After dialing in the remote user must hang up after the third ring. Based on the information that the user puts into the PPP configuration, the CIC will automatically dial up to the designated ISP and send an email to the designated email address with the assigned IP address from the ISP. The user may browse and control the CIC with this dynamic IP address. When the user is ready to exit click the "Disconnect Now " button at the bottom of the screen. The user must check the Paging Enable Box.
NOTE: The user must complete the PPP Configuration for the Pager Function to work.
3.The PPP connection is useful if it is not possible to make a direct network connection to the CIC. An external modem is needed to connect to the front serial port of the CIC.
NOTE: The user must complete one of the Setup Procedures and fill in all of the information in the PPP Configuration before the Dial-up Function will work.

Hi Robert-
Not a problem. The SNMP-S08 Adapter that Jeff mentioned allows you to assign an IP address to the individual UPS and access it over your WAN via a Web browser.
You need a modem if you want remote access to the UPS or do not have network connection or if you want pager funtcion via RS232(front panel internet power managemant card). The SNMP-S08 device has 5 main connections: On the front of the internet power management card a USB port for setup only (Win 98), RS-232 serial port for setup and for external modem and the RJ-45 Ethernet connection to plug directly into your network. On the back side of the SNMP-SO8 box there are 2 more connections; RS232 serial port to connect to the RS232 port on the UPS and a power connection.
Is that the type of device you need? Please advise.
Thank you,
Todd

Do you have a internal option card?
The UPS has an Option slot.

Hi Robert-
Unfortunately, that slot was made for the SNMP-C01 card built to go into all the Pro Rackmount models in the 1997-1998 timeframe. This card did not offer Web-browser based management while the newer SNMP-S08 device does. It was strictly low-level SNMP communication.
The SNMP-S08 is basically the same card we offer for our newer Enterprise UPS models placed into a small black housing to be used externally with other Minuteman models. It takes up very little additional space and is worth it for the Web management features, unless you are really short of space.
One other note, I believe that the SNMP-S08 does not currently offer email notification, only pager and network broadcast messages of power events. Are those sufficient?
Thank you,
Todd

The Pager option needs a modem. Broadcast MSGs need a Syslog Trap server.

RobertK, Correct you will need a modem for the pager function. The modem will need a dedicated phone line to send the page out to the pagers. You do not need a syslog trap server.
