I have a Pro1500e and am running SentryII 2.00.03 on Windows Server 2003. I have installed the USB serial driver and rebooted. Device Manager and SentryII both see the new Com port, Com3. When I run SentryII and configure the port, it says settings are saved, but it keeps reverting to Com1. I can't find a line to configure the port in the SentryII.ini file to manually configure the port. Any help would be appreciated.

soneil,

I have seen that myself.

What I do is:

I shut the web browser off and restart the web browser.

Closing and reopening the web browser did not help.

soneil,

Stop the service first, then open the Sentry II folder in your explorer. Look for Minuteman open Sentryini.

Do you have Windows XP?

soneil-

Try the following:

1) Stop the SentryII service and open the SentryII.ini file located here (in Notepad or text editor):
C:\Program Files\Minuteman\SentryII\SentryII.ini

2) Be sure the contents of the file look something like the ones pasted at the bottom of this post. If not, then copy and paste the text between the # lines into your SentryII.ini file.

3) Find this section in the file and manually change the port to COM3.
[Comms]
UPSPollInterval=1000
Port=COM1

4) Save the file and close it.

5) Restart the SentryII service and try to open the SentryII page in your browser again.

If manually changing the ini file doesn't fix the problem, then try the following:
1) Uninstall SentryII 2.00.03

2) Download and install version 2.01.03
http://www.minutemanups.com/support/software/sentryII-v2-01-03-win32.zip

Version 2.01.03 fixed an issue with SentryII and the PRO-E USB virtual COM driver that sometimes happens in XP. Usually the drop-down would show three COM3 entries instead of what you described. However, it's possible that Server 2003 is experiencing the same or similar problem but presents itself differently.

Please try and let us know what happens.

Todd

Thank you for your responses. Manually adding the line Port=COM3 to the [Comms] section did the trick. In addition I have downloaded the newer version of SentryII and will install it during our next scheduled upgrade cycle.
