Just got a Pro1400 UPS from CDWG for some of our network hardware and a Mac OS X Server...
I see you support several "flavors" of Unix.. with Mac OS X's FreeBSD core, I would think it might be worthwhile to make an OS X version of your software!
It would certainly steer ME in your direction for UPS's for our School District! Currently I think only APS offers Mac Software, and they have an over-inflated idea of the worth of that...

Hello Paul-
Thank you for trying our products! I'm glad to hear someone else voicing their opinion in favor of OS X - aside from me. We have definitely discussed it here, I agree that it would be easier to port this software to a FreeBSD core since we already have Unix versions. Nonetheless, this project is still quite a major undertaking.
If we could establish the fact that there's a large enough sales potential to cover the cost and make it a worthwhile pursuit, then we could make the case to get this port done.
At this point, most of our users have been on Windows and Unix/Linux platforms only.
In other words, if we hear that there's enough need out there we'll probably do it. Unfortunately, since we don't have the resources of APC and many of our customers have not voiced an interest in Mac OS X, we have not been able to commit any resources to do it. However, that could change if we hear from enough customers like yourself.
Out of curiosity, how many OS X machines will your school district need to protect with UPS's? Please let us know what other features are important to you in a UPS.
We appreciate your comments.
Todd

You might voice to the powers that be that it may be a case of cart before the horse;
Users who use Windows/Linux/etc buy Minuteman UPS's... Users who use OS X don't because there's no software!
Make the software, and more Mac users will hear about and use Minuteman UPS's!
I can only speak for my school site.. but we could use between 5 and 10 UPS's this year, and as budget allows probably buy between 5-10 a year (replacements and additional units).
If you don't mind, I'll post a call for INTERESTED Mac users to post their support of the idea here on a discussion board I frequent...
Thanks for listening! |

Paul-
Please do feel free to post and let other interested users on your message board know. Several users with 5-10 units could add up quickly. I would like to see us have an OS X version in the future if we could show that it would grow business and build the user base.
In the meantime, please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you.
