Minuteman UPS products, bundled with the SentryPlusTM
management software, provide easily
configurable utilities that enable users to schedule the shutdown and
re-start
of connected equipment during business “down times”. By conveniently
reducing
the electric loads of devices that are only used during business hours,
Minuteman UPS products can significantly reduce a business owner’s
electrical
utility costs. |

The
new
EnSpire
EN750 and EN900 are some of the most efficient, low-cost, UPS products
available today. When operating at peak efficiency, the “Green Mode”
icon will appear on the LCD display to notify users the device is not
only protecting your connected equipment, but is protecting it with
very little additional draw from utility power, reducing energy costs
and lessening environmental impact.

Minuteman
UPS
and
RPM (remote power management)
devices give users the
ability to prioritize power needs through Load Shedding. Not all
electronic devices require extended runtime on a UPS during blackouts
or during non-business hours. For that reason Minuteman offers this
specialized feature on the EnterprisePlus
and Endeavor
product lines. The Load Shedding feature allows users to isolate
critical electronic devices from non-critical items. During blackouts,
or business “down times”, non-critical electronic devices, such as
monitors, printers, KVMs, etc., can be shut down, providing extended
battery capacity for devices that must never lose power, and lowering
the amount of power consumed by the system as a whole.

Understanding
the
“cycle” of a user's utility draw from electronic
equipment can identify potential opportunities for reductions in power
consumption. With Minuteman’s SentryPlus
management software, users can monitor, log, and even graph many key
components for a look at how and when power is consumed. Once
identified, this power draw can be modified using either Minuteman’s SentryPlus
software, or load-shedding features to reduce utility consumption,
saving money and
reducing environmental impact.

A Power Factor is the ratio of apparent power to real power as expressed by the
mathematical formula: PF=Watts/VA. It is usually expressed as a
percent or decimal number, (i.e. a PF of 0.65 is the same as a PF of
65%). In an electric power system, a load with low power factor draws
more current than a load with a high power factor for the same amount
of utility power transferred. The higher currents increase the energy
lost in the distribution system, and require larger wires and other
equipment. Because of the costs of larger equipment and wasted energy,
electrical utilities will usually charge a higher cost to industrial or
commercial customers where there is a low power factor. Power Factor
Correction, (PFC), uses an active or passive input circuit to change
the power factor of the input current to a device so that it is closer
to a PF of 1.0. Using PFC will reduce the amount of current drawn from
a utility, thereby reducing a user's energy costs.

Continuing our commitment to saving the environment, Minuteman uses
recycled and/or recyclable packaging for all of our power protection
products. This commitment also extends beyond packaging to the most
hazardous environmental components to UPS technology - old and/or dead
batteries. As a standard service to all of our customers, and part of
our overall Green Initiative, Minuteman provides a recycling service
for old batteries that are replaced with new Minuteman batteries,
ensuring that they are disposed of properly. This service is
provided free of charge, though users are responsible for shipping
costs of batteries to be recycled.

Minuteman products with the RoHS label conform to the Restriction of
Hazardous Substances Directive as conceived by the European Union
Committee in 2002. This directive was established to create a set
of guidelines for the production of electronic equipment using less
toxic materials that are safer for the environment. For more information on
the directive and what it covers, visit http://www.rohs.gov.uk/. |

Minuteman UPS
Products featuring Minuteman’s Superior Battery Management use smart
charging algorithms to extend the life of your batteries. These
products carry a 3-year, non-prorated warranty, with customers
frequently seeing
battery life well past this mark. Longer battery life significantly
reduces the cost of ownership for a UPS, maximizing the user's return
on their initial investment.
