New models offer power monitoring and management from anywhere in the world
Last week, Minuteman announced the release of three new Minuteman Remote Power Managers, the latest addition to a line of remote power management solutions. The RPM-EV6 series of products are IP-addressable managers that allow administrators and technicians to remotely control the power to connected servers, network equipment, and security devices, eliminating the need for expensive and time-consuming service calls to reboot unresponsive devices. By using an RPM, a locked-up device can be quickly re-started from a PC, lap-top, tablet or smart phone from anywhere in the world.
Utilizing a web-based interface, the user can control power to each attached device using any
standard web browser. The web-based interface also allows reboot scheduling, power start-up sequencing, plus extensive set-up, configuration, and security tools. A user name and password are required for log-in, and other security features include IP and MAC filtering, TLS secure email, three user access levels, event logging, HTTPS connection support, SSL encryption, plus Syslog and Radius support.
With a built-in auto-ping feature, this power management tool can be programmed to send out automatic notifications warning administrators and users that a device has failed, enabling fast response to reduce system downtime. These communications can be sent via secure e-mail or SNMP trap.
Three New Models
The RPM1581EV6 is an 8-port, 12 Amp maximum load device that operates at 100-120 VAC and contains eight 5-15/20R receptacles.
The RPM30241EV6 is a 24-port system with a 24 Amp maximum load, operating at 100-120 VAC and features twenty-four 5-15/20R receptacles.
The RPM30242EV6 is also a 24-port device with a maximum of a 24 Amp load, while operating at 208-240VAC and featuring 21 IEC320 C13 and 3 IEC320 C19 receptacles.
Each remote power manager comes standard with a 10-ft power cord and the EV6 models have cUL, UL 60950-1 and CE certifications. All Minuteman remote power management products feature a 3-year limited parts and labor warranty.
RPM Cost Benefits
“As we all know, locked-up systems are a fact of life, and whenever a device fails, the only method for restoring the device is to reboot it,” stated Bill Allen, director of marketing for Para Systems. “With the cost of an average trip to fix a failed device in a remote facility currently estimated at $350 an hour, the RPM can quickly pay for itself when the attached devices only need to be rebooted. It’s not necessary to send a technician to a remote location to merely cycle power off and then on.”
The RPM-EV6 models are now shipping in the U.S. through Minuteman’s nationwide network of distributors and resellers, as well as authorized distributors in Canada, Central, and South America.
